GOV’T MYOB
I don’t know about you, but the news depresses me. That being said, i can’t stay away from it either. I read the news about 30 minutes a day. I can’t help it. I feel like it’s something I’m supposed to do. In fact, when I don’t stay up on current events I start to go through withdrawal.
Something that’s really bothering me these days is the increasing size of government. Historically, that’s obviously never a good thing–no matter the “good” and “moral” reason for it. It breeds corruption and oppression.
It doesn’t really matter what your political persuasion or world-view is, small government is better for everyone. It’s one of the founding principles of this country and the main reason why it has been so successful in just 200 years of being a nation.
Why don’t we all know instinctively that small government is better? Why did I never learn this foundational principle in the public schools I went to? What are we teaching our kids? If you disagree please give me your best reasons.
The bigger government gets, the more your freedoms are taken away. That’s just the plain truth. I want government to stay out of my life as much as possible. What about you?
Just venting…

Preserving the Constitution would have prevented us from straying this far into big government. The trouble is, those who are in power today act like they have never read it. Or they have white out over the 10th amendment in their copy. It would be nice to see the Supreme Court start striking down some of these laws, but I’m not holding my breath.
No worries. I like Ron and the dialogue is very important for these days…
sorry. didnt mean to make your post about ron paul.
he is definitely not charismatic…but to me that is what makes him more attractive as a leader. personality is so deceiving.
as for his stance on national defense, he is very old school. the modern thought is that we should be on the offensive in order to prevent future attacks. but that is not self defense. and that is where ron draws the line.
in either case, he is one of very few who are fighting for a smaller government…and one that will stay the heck out of our freedoms!
it is very scary to me how involved in my life the govt is already…and with the “change” ahead, it looks like the intrusion will increase.
Ron is strong on many, many points. I like what you has to say on so many things, especially the Constitution.
His downfall is national defense and he’s not very charismatic. Hard to overcome if you want to be prez…
I had the privilege of taking my daughter to see Ron Paul last year in Colorado. Trying to educate the next generation about preserving our constitution. Yes, I agree, Dr. Paul opposes the war in Iraq, but I think it’s b/c he thinks we can’t afford it monetarily. He took extra time talking with my daughter. Awesome!
Ron Paul is an interesting fella. He sure called this financial reasons many years ago.
Although I disagree with him on national security.
AMEN! good vent!
listened to any ron paul speeches lately? they might lift your head!
