Angst-ridden Book 10 Things I Hate About Christianity Brings Peaceful Resolutions

New
book 10 Things I Hate About Christianity: Working Through the
Frustrations of Faith by Jason T. Berggren takes a fresh approach to
resolving religious questions.

Atlanta, GA (Vocus/PRWEB
) May 15, 2009 — Can any good come from hate? This is the question
author Jason T. Berggren is repeatedly asked regarding his
conflict-ridden book 10 Things I Hate About Christianity: Working Through the Frustrations of Faith.

In interview after interview, Berggren defends the use of the word hate in his title and explains the purpose of the book.

Contrary to what the title suggests, the book is meant to channel the
anger and frustration that many have with faith and use it to build a
stronger connection with God. Berggren shared with the Christianpost.com,
“I struggle with certain aspects of Christianity… I thought that since
I was tapping into truth I would have all my questions answered, all my
insecurities would go away, and I would get everything I wanted. This
book is me sitting on the couch having it out with God. Telling Him how
I feel and trying to find my way.”

It would appear his approach is gaining ground. Twice ABC News
correspondent Dan Harris has interviewed Berggren. The first interview
debuted on ABC’s video blog The Quick Fix
and had nearly 20,000 views the first day. Berggren’s second interview
will air in prime time as the focus of the première episode of ABC’s
new program Beliefs (specific time TBA).

Positive reviews from book critics continue to gather. One reviewer posted her remarks on Amazon.com.
She said, “I found myself talking out loud while I read this book. Yes!
Exactly. And then I would laugh at a comment he (Jason) would make
about, say, country music, or something. As each chapter went on I
would wonder if I could really agree with more of what this guy has to
say? And I did…”

A reader also posted candid comments on Berggren’s blog Morethingsihate.com.
He openly shared, “I appreciated what I saw to be your authenticity in
dealing with various subjects. You described your beliefs in a way that
wasn’t dogmatic toward the reader… Many of the things you struggled
with I have as well. Halfway through one section in which you were
talking about forgiveness, I actually put my book down and fired off an
email to an ex-girlfriend I hadn’t talked to in months. I apologized
for some nasty things I told her when she dumped me.”

Berggren describes his book as a record of the raw process of his
journey with faith. The hope is that his experience will help others as
they try to find, establish, and maintain a connection with God.
