I will try to ignore the idea of preaching while intoxicated (PWI?). That should be illegal too!
But I like the idea you brought, for sure.
I have a friend who finds religion offensive because of experiences in her childhood. She finds it particularly offensive when one of her acquaintances will try to “preach to her” when they are high, drunk, etc.
I understand her point, and – even if they are sincere – these folks do not show the Church at its best. But the last time the subject came up (earlier today) I said to her roughly what is in the quote – I said that the Church is a church of sinners.
Negative tension indeed.
